My Experience
Joan is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has over twenty-three years of clinical practice and twenty-five years of experience in the mental health field. Joan’s experience has been in private practice, hospitals, community mental health outreach programs, residential facilities, foster care agencies, and academic settings. She integrates various theoretical orientations: Humanistic, Client-Centered, Existential, Gestalt, Cognitive/Behavioral, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. She is an approved clinical supervisor, a National Certified Counselor, a certified EMDRIA therapist, an approved EMDRIA consultant, and an approved EMDRIA trainer.
Joan believes individuals have the power to tell their stories and use their voices to create positive change in their lives. She has experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. Joan conducts presentations, consultations, trainings, and workshops for various groups, organizations, and companies. Joan’s presentation style is the power of utilizing humor and practical examples to disseminate and assimilate mental health complexities and the impact of stress, resulting in a learning and growing atmosphere. Joan’s clinical approach is integrated and meets the client where they are in their developmental journey.
