What is EMDR therapy?
EMDR is a therapy that stands for eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. It is a therapy that uses bilateral stimulation (usually eye movements) while focusing on a traumatic memory to reduce the emotional intensity associated with the memory. EMDR therapy is a well-established, researched, and effective therapy utilized for individuals that have experienced trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms. EMDR is an evidenced-based therapy that has an increase reduction of symptoms for patients compared to other forms of therapy. To read more about clinical research and the effectiveness of EMDR go to www.emdria.org.
